| Summer jobs
There are plenty of seasonal jobs available. College/university may be finished and you need money to pay the bills or indeed build up your nest egg for the next term. You may still be at school and need extra money to help you all year round?
Money, obviously is what you are working for but this should also be viewed as a chance to gain some vital experience. Try to get a job related to the industry you are training or studying for as this will ensure that you stand out from the thousands of applicants applying for jobs at the end of their studies. A person who has relevant experience in the field will be more likely to be picked than someone with no experience or background.
It can also be used as a time to make useful contacts and network which can be used when you are applying for that all important ‘real job’.
Summer camp jobs.
Working in a summer camp could provide not just an income but can also be great fun as well. They can provide an excellent boost to confidence and a chance to learn new skills and meet new people. However remember that if working in the entertainment industry then this usually means low pay and long hours.
These jobs are usually available between the months of late May and late August/ September.
Summer jobs abroad
This could be a good opportunity to see the world and get paid at the same time! These jobs can help build up your CV and show employers you have experience in the job market. It also gives you the independence and a chance to learn life skills.
They may also provide you with a chance to learn or consolidate on your language skills.
Summer Secondments
The majority of large companies will take on some summer staff to help assist with the shortage of staff during the summer months due to annual leave etc.
These jobs usually are well paid and will help you gain relevant experience for working in a large company environment. They may also assist you in providing that all important contact which you will require in later years. If you work well then these companies will tend to re employ you the following year and so takes away the stress of looking for summer employment every year.
